“Destination Staycation” Virtual Challenge
May 13 @ 8:00 am - June 30 @ 11:30 pm
Even when we’re apart, our fitness community is still STRONG! Join us for the second Platte River Fitness Series virtual event, taking place for seven weeks in May and June!
Take part in a virtual fitness event that invites you to take a virtual vacation to one of Nebraska’s beautiful state parks. For 7 weeks in May and June, we’re challenging you to run, walk, bike or both in one of 3 formats, each having 3 distances :
North Platte to Red Willow State Recreation Area: 56.2 miles
North Platte to Kearney State Historical Park: 103 miles
North Platte to Chadron State Park: 219 miles
North Platte to Johnson Lake State Recreation Area: 72.2 miles
North Platte to Wind Mill State Park: 110 miles
North Platte to Platte River State Park: 257 miles
Combination (a combination of running/walking and bicycling, but it must include BOTH, with at least 25% of the mileage run and/or walked)
North Platte to Medicine Creek State Recreation Area: 93.2 miles
North Platte to Niobrara State Park: 252 miles
North Platte to Indian Cave State Park: 314 miles
That’s a combined total for the seven weeks by the way — not all at once! Pick the distance you feel is challenging, but achievable. If you decide to go “the extra mile,” you can upgrade your distance at any time during the challenge.
Complete your goal distance by June 30, and you’ll receive a custom-designed event medal! All participants will also receive a short-sleeved 50/50 cotton event T-shirt. (You can pick these up at the Rec Center or have them mailed for an extra fee; please indicate your preference when you register.)
