DESCRIPTION:The Tri-Nebraska Triathlon celebrates 23 years of encouraging athletes of all ages and abilities to flourish\, but this year\, we will be offering a virtual only event! With the construction that is currently ongoing at the North Platte Rec Center and the current limitations on the facility\, we don’t feel that we will be able to provide the necessary level of safety and the expected level of athlete experience that we pride ourselves on. For our 2025 kids race we plan to host a Swim/Run event during the evening of April 25\, 2025\, removing the bike portion for this year due to safety concerns. We hope to return in-person in 2026 in a brand new\, state-of-the-art swimming pool and gorgeous new facility! \nAthletes are encouraged to learn to swim\, but water walking will be allowed in the kids event (kids may be supported in water)\, and in the virtual individual and relay divisions. Any style of bike is acceptable\, but bike helmet is mandatory. \nADULT VIRTUAL TRIATHLON (individual and relay) $55 Individual; $99 Relay \n\n\nDISTANCES: 500 yard swim/water walk or run\, 14 mile bike\, 5K run/walk \n\n\nDATE: You may complete your triathlon\, done as a continuous event\, anytime between April 21-27th. You must submit proof of time and distance no later than midnight on April 27th to receive participation points and race swag to hello@platteriverfitness.com. You will not receive points without documenting your triathlon. \n\n\nMORE INFORMATION: Screenshots of watches\, fitness tracking apps\, etc. showing distance for each portion of the triathlon and a total time are required. You are expected to honor the rule for mandatory helmets. You may use the same route as the triathlon would have followed\, but as long as you cover the same distances\, you may choose your route. Some athletes will be participating in other locations outside of North Platte. Triathletes will receive a race shirt and custom finisher’s medal. \n\n\nRELAY FORMAT: Relays may consist of a 2- or 3-person team — one swimmer\, one bike and one runner. An athlete may complete 2 legs\, but must have another member to complete the third. \n\n\nKIDS TRIATHLON $15 \n\n\nDISTANCES: 7 & under — 25 yd swim\, 0.25 mile run; 10 & under — 50 yd swim\, 0.5 mile run; 14 & under — 100 yd swim\, 1 mile run *The run will be held in the Rec Center gym. \n\n\nDATE: Friday\, April 25 \n\n\nTIMES: Mandatory race meeting at 5:30 p.m. in the Rec Center gym. Race start at 6 p.m. \n\n\nFORMAT: Individual entries only; no relays. Kids receive a t-shirt and custom finisher’s medal \n\n\nPRFS Participation Points: Athletes will receive participation points only. No placing points will be given.
