Rules | How to Play
The tournament consists of 3 divisions, the Prime 40′, Prime 30′, and the Open Division. Even though all of the events are sanctioned through the NHPA (National Horseshoe Pitchers Association), this tournament has a unique format of
- 30 Shoe Ringers Only Games
- Wins, losses, and ties do not count in this round, only averages are used to seed the player.
- Qualifying Round on Saturday
- Once qualifying rounds are complete, players will be set into groups of 4 based on qualifying averages (A-B-C-D-etc.) and are seeded onto a bracket.
- Finals on Sunday
- In the finals, the format changes to wins/losses in a bracket format. Games played as best of 3. If the match is tied at the end of a 3 game set, the tour tie breaker will be applied.

Prime Divisions
The two “Prime Divisions”, 30′ and 40′, are the featured divisions, which are for qualified players with averages above 40%. Payouts for these two divisions are from top to bottom, ranging from $500 down to $50, with the additional bonus of any sponsored prize purse. This is based on players pitching performances during the events. The Prime Divisions also qualify for the Horseshoe Tour’s “Big Game Challenge”.
Entry Fee: $80/division
Open Divisions
The “Open Divisions” were added to allow players with lower (than 40%) averages to participate in the same format as the prime divisions, but with less entry fee, less payout, and certain restrictions. The Open Division is subject to mixed distances, only the top 4 averages in each class survive to the finals on Sunday; whereas others are eliminated.
Entry Fee: $35
