North Platte, NE– USA Powerlifting hosted the Power on the Platte event at the North Platte recreation center on November 19th.
The event brought powerlifters from across the region to North Platte to compete in three key events: squat, bench press and dead lift.
The event involved over 30 men and women of all ages including a mother and son team and a father and son team.
“I have some good competition, I have two other guys I’m going against,” Tyson Chromy said. “One of them is from UNK, I see them all the time it’s just a tough meet today but I’m having a lot of fun.”
“It’s fun to see a lot of local guys coming to these and just promoting the sport out here. It’s just good to see guys my age doing things like this,” father Dan Chromy said.
The event also brought athletes from Midland University including head coach Tim Anderson, a three time world bench press champion.
“It’s a great support for the kids. I know that we’ve even had a lot of people from out of state,” Anderson said about the event being in North Platte. “You see North Platte, Nebraska but we had people travel all the way from Alaska to come out and watch the team so they do get great support so the kids love that.”
